Egoist or Egotist: The “I’s” have it

Egoist or Egotist: The “I’s” have it.
Me first! That’s the egoist, whose every decision is based on the answer to that burning question, “What’s in it for me?” The egotist, on the other hand, is the conceited guy who’s always bragging about his new car or drowning out your opinion with his own.
To remember which is which, think of the “t” in egotist as standing for “talking,” since that’s what the boastful egotist does to excess.
Reticent or reluctant?

Reticent or reluctant?
Mum’s the word.
Someone who is reticent is habitually uncommunicative. A reticent person is not so much shy as reserved. The “man of few words,” like the gunfighters Clint Eastwood portrayed, is reticent. It is not interchangeable with reluctant, which refers to an unwillingness to do something.
Think of the “u” in reluctant and in unwilling. Or the “i” in reticent and silent.
